The purpose of the Friends of the Brainerd Public Library (FOBPL) is to enhance the services that the Brainerd Public Library provides to the community. It recognizes that goals in library advocacy can be better achieved through an organization rather than as individuals. It encourages the use of the library’s resources and service through publicity and participation in library activities. Its intent is to enrich the cultural life of the community by sponsoring special programs, events and exhibits, to stimulate both public and private financial support of the library, and to provide equipment and materials not available through the regular library budget. It engages in fundraising to achieve these goals but is not intended to supplant normal library funding.
